CSR STRATEGIES AND INFORMED DECISIONS WITH MOS MOSH


One of the most important things to remember, when working with sustainability and CSR in any company is data. But, one thing is collecting it, another is making good use of it.

For many fashion brands, their CSR and sustainability journey starts off by reacting on a growing gut-feeling. A gut-feeling can be a good way to get started, but once it’s time to get serious with CSR and sustainability you need some facts on the table. Enter data! Data is extremely valuable in the CSR process, because it helps ensure that you are taking action where there is most change to be made.

 Sustainability data made useful

 A lot of companies and consumers are still trying to figure out what the best and most responsible choices are, in all aspects and tiers. Consumers want to buy better products and brands want to create the best products and be a better business than they were yesterday. Data helps you make informed decisions, something which is especially useful when it comes to a field such as CSR and sustainability.

 When Sustainawear and MOS MOSH first started working together in the gloomy fall of 2020, MOS MOSH had already done a lot of work, by collecting all the necessary data. But they didn’t really know what to do with it. Sustainawear helped them utilize that data and set the foundation for a future CSR strategy.

The making of a CSR strategy

MOS MOSH was not new to CSR. They had been working with it for some time, but in a more sporadic way.

They were already proud members of BCI and had a cotton strategy laid out. But they wanted to do more and they wanted have a more strategic approach to sustainability.

As a fashion brand, one of the biggest postings is materials. So naturally, a material strategy had to be made, setting the ambition to increase the amount of preferred materials, including organic cotton, recycled materials, TENCEL™ Lyocell, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ VISCOSE and more.

With the same approach, data – then decisions, an overall CSR strategy was developed.

The strategy was tailored to MOS MOSH and took their biggest possibilities for positive change into consideration. It was important to give MOS MOSH a detailed map to follow, because they always had their eyes on the horizon.

 They wanted to do more, and their ambitions lead them to the next natural step – getting certified.

Getting the right certifications

In their quest for the GOTS, GRS and RWS certifications, structure and data was once again the most dominant tool for success.

Getting certified is not a straight road. It takes time, and many parties are involved in the process. Therefore, MOS MOSH decided to have Sustainawear join them as consultants for the project, having them guide them every step of the way.

In the summer of 2021, MOS MOSH received their license numbers and could celebrate this important part of their journey.
